"You're a kite dancing in a hurricane..."

Dec 11, 2024 20:46

A line that describes just about everything I feel these days. Anyway.

A cold spike last night, after the rain moved out. But at least we got the sun back. The sun makes all the difference. Our high was 51.

I found myself with nothing much to write about here, again, nothing that I wanted to write about. Not today. And I wondered, as I do sometimes, why I am still keeping this blog. How many people can look at LiveJournal entries they've made almost every day (Let's say <90% days) over the twenty years and seven months? Well, I can. I'm just not sure why. The "Age of the Blogosphere" is long passed, vanished like the trilobites and the dodo.

Never mind.

This afternoon's movie was Sam Mendes' Spectre (2015).

And, you know, I've spent almost my whole life without any form of health insurance (until Obamacare happened), and I hate the predatory mess that's been made of medicine, but I still think the way so much of the internet instantly tried to make some sort of Robin Hood/anti-Capitalist hero out of Luigi Mangione is pretty fucked up. It's not even a matter of giving any particular shit about Brian Thompson. It's about not losing sight of our basic humanity.

Never mind.

The photo below is from a torrential down poor we had yesterday, looking down the back stairs as the basement threatened to flood. Kathryn took it.
