Today was a gorgeous Alabama spring day, sunny with a high of 82F.
This afternoon we were able to see Denis Villeneuve's Dune (Part Two) at the McWane iMax free of charge. And so while I had serious doubts about trying to watch an actual film on iMax, nothing to lose. Kathryn and I agree that the results are mixed. At times, it was fucking amazing. Vast, panoramic shots of Arrakis and battle scenes, those often worked to briliant effect. But scenes actually involving actors were sometimes seriously distorted, smeared to either side. In the end, I do not regret the expereince, but I know I will not have truly seen this film until I see it on a more conventional screen. Near as I could tell, it was even better than the first. I loved it.
It was very weird going to McWane and not going up to the lab.
Last night, great episodes of both The New Look and Constellation. Honestly, I think the best TV there is can now be found on AppleTV.
