"What a beautiful dream that could flash on the screen..."

I woke late, feeling crappy, to rain. But by late afternoon there was some clearing. It won't last, but it's good to get breaks in the monsoon. Our high was a pleasant, if damp, 63F.

If it's a choice between freezing and drowning, I'll choose drowning every time.

In no way, was today the day I had hoped it would be.

I have that sort of almost crippling nostalgia that finds me a times like this, when almost any time before the miserable present seems like a goddamn golden age. That said, this is an especially lousy point in both my personal history and that of this country. Not shit I wanted to live to see. Still, letting it gnaw at me is hardly productive. It's wallowing. It's irrational.

This afternoon's film was Tarantino's Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood (2019).

Reposting this from yesterday: So, here's a thing, if you buy a copy of Vile Affections from us sometime in the next two weeks, you will get a COLOUR monster doodle, drawn and colored by my own hand, FREE. I have very rarely offered colour monster doodles. So...don't snooze.

On this day in 1812, the magnitude 7.8 New Madrid quake, part of a series of intraplate earthquakes that rocked the east of the United States...well, read about it.
