"The measure of a person, of a hero, is how well they succeed at being who they are."

A day that began so cloudy and rainy I could no see the street from my window. But then there was sun.

Maybe this has not been the worst Christmas of my life, after all, but it has certainly been one of the weirdest. Oh, and I should have mentioned, worse than 2005 was 1995 (the year Elizabeth died), and there was a doozy in 1991, shortly after I transitioned. They come around. Truthfully, the hell Christmases are becoming scarce.

Bride of Quiet,
Bride of all Quiet things... ~ The Decemberists

Last night we watchedTerry Zwigoff's Badder Santa (2003), as we have done every CE since...2006, 2005, something like that. Every year but one. Tonight we will watch The Roayl Tenanbaum's, our other holiday film, even though it is not genuinely a Christmas film. It is to us.

Spooky spent a big chunk of the day at the ER vet with Lydia, who is doing better. I just posted to Facebook: My thanks, my enormous thanks to all who have helped us. Kathryn has written an update. Things are looking up, but so are the expenses, so we'll be leaving this up a bit longer. You guys are the best readers and friends in the world. ~ And yeah, it's true. I did not know how we were going to pay for even the smallest part of this, and you guys have given her a fighting chance. We're keeping the GoFundMe going for now, since the expenses have not stopped. Kathryn has written an update.

I stayed home alone and played WOW Classic all afternoon. And as bad as that sounds, news of Lydia's improvement still kept this from being anywhere near that horrible Christmas of 1995. Or 1991. (Actually, I kinda had fun; first time I'd played since 2019.)

The afternoon's film (because there was one) was Anthony and Joe Russo's Avenger's: Endgame (2019, also), because sometime you just gotta watch people saving the world.

Thank you again.
