The best laid plans...and sick cats.

Sunny today. Our high was 67F.

So, we were supposed to go to my mother's for Christmas dinner today, but yesterday Lydia began acting...not well. Sluggish. Not eating. This morning she had a fever of 104.1F. So, Spooky had to take her to the emergency vet in Hoover, which took most of the day. Obviously, we did not make it to my mother's. We're going to try to visit on Monday, Christmas Day. Meanwhile, we're exactly sure what's wrong with Lydia. They ran blood tests and put her on an antibiotic, gave her subcutaneous fluid (she was dehydrated). Her kidney and blood sugar was a little high, but not diabetes level (a concern we have, given her weight, 24 lbs.). It might be a UTI. The visit cost of close to $600. Anyway, yeah. At least she and Selwyn did not get sick at exactly the same time.

I finished Speilberg's Netflix series Life of Our Planet, the last two episodes. I think my favorite sequence from the entire series was the encounter between a Maiacetus innus and an Otodus megalodon off the coast of early Middle Eocene Pakistan.

Last night we watched Part One of Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon. I went in aware of the overhwlmingly bad reviews, but determined to draw my own conclusion. Which is that this is a vastly disappointing, slow-motion trainwreck of a film. And I do mean slow. It would have benefited from a script, one that wasn't a retread of...well..many things, but mostly it felt like poorly written Star Wars fan fic, not suprising given Rebel Moon began life in 2017 as Snyder's pitch to Lucasfilm for a Star Wars film. There was one well choregraphed fight scene near the very end, and that was about all there was worth seeing. Mostly, I wanted to see Sofia Boutella. I do not know if I'll bother with Part Two in April.

Oh, and we saw the latest episode of For All Mankind. I think if time the show realized it has jumped the shark. Time to leave the stage, because I think it has said everything it had to say.

Anyway, because of the unforseen expense at the vet, we are looking to raise for quick cash via the Dreaming Squid Sundries shop. I am doing it this way rather than a GoFundMe or whatever because I want people to get something in return. So...please. Look at the books and Spooky's tie dye. Thanks, and happy holidays. May your pets stay well.

Oh, the photo of Lydia in her carrier at the vet, that's by Spooky.

Later Tater Beans,
Aun Beast
