Sunny all day. Cold. Our high was 68F. That dosn't sound cold, but the low last night was 37F, and the day felt cold.
This new way that I am working. Last night, I sort of dozed on and off until about 2 a.m., and then I got up and wrote another 1,316 words on The Night Watchers. I laid down again about 3:45 a.m. and fell asleep, then got up at 7 a.m. It seems to be working. The prose is good, and I have the days for paleontology. It's doubling my productivity. The only real problem is that I'm averaging about 4.5 hours sleep a night. Whatever else "they" may come to say of me, "they" cannot call me lazy.
Today I found out that when some zoomers say "rizz' they mean charisma. Okay, sure. Why not. We move nearer and nearer a language devoid of anything but grunts somehow convyed by electronic devices. Note, I was instructed this is largely an American bit of slang, "rizz." And for what it's worth, I've always hated slang. I hated the slang of my own adolescence, and very little of it made it into my vocabulary. Even less has survived.

There's this, via Reuters: Antisemitic incidents in the United States rose by about 400% in slightly over two weeks since war broke out in the Middle East after Palestinian Islamist group Hamas attacked Israel on Oct. 7, advocacy group Anti-Defamation League (ADL) said Wednesday.*
400%. And those are just the reported incidents. I shudder to think how bad it is in Europe.

I want to go for a long drive in the mountains and see what's left of the autumn colors.
