Another sunny and freakishly warm day. Our high was 76˚F, with a heat index of 78˚F.
I have a feeling a lot of this entry will be saved until tomorrow's. I was on the phone with Mike Polcyn for 45 minutes, and that sorta ate into my blogging time. Which is fine, I'd rather talk mosasaurs than blog any day. Now that my health has improved a little, and Bradbury Weather, is out the door, I'm desperate to get MP2 polished and submitted before the Xmas holidays. Our loan from Yale expires in February 2023 (though once the specimen is in press, they will like grant us an extension). Mike and I are gonna have another number-crunching phylogenetics session next week, so I can finish the phylogeny section.
Today, I finished coloring the monster doodles, and I wrote sent Bill at SubPress the copy for Bradbury Weather that will appear on the website, and I signed a LOT of
Big Cartel books. Speaking of, there are a few copies of The Little Damned Book of Days chapbook (2005) up in the shop, which is we have not offered in ages. They are selling fast.
You know, I was gonna write a scathing of the adaptation of "Pickman's Model" that appears as part of del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities anthology, but I'm gonna put that off until tomorrow. It's an utter piece of shit, and I want more time to devout to skewering it.
This morning I began reading Cormac McCarthy's The Passenger. Brilliant is too small a word.
The below envelope is the most beautiful thing I have received in the mail in many years. Thank you, Steve.
Later Tater Beans,
