"...a gorgeous, but bashful, animal..."

Today was sunny, but chilly, with a high of only 41˚F. Meanwhile, Providence is looking at 24+ inches of snow.

I was up at dawn (photo below) pondering mosasaur frontals (a large born that forms most of the roof of the skull). This coming week, after a day or two at McWane, I have got to get back to fiction. Maybe I can do fiction in the morning, paleo' in the evenings. I just need a lot more energy, a lot more stick-to-itiveness. I need to not get distracted so easily. That is one thing COVID-19 and my self-imposed isolation has cost me, my already shaky ability to focus and stay focused.

I'm slowly cleaning my office/lab.

“The problem in our country isn't with books being banned, but with people no longer reading. You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them.” ~ Ray Bradbury, Fahrenheit 451

"The books that the world calls immoral are the books that show the world its own shame." ~ Oscar Wilde

A day or two ago I got a contributor's copy of Steve Jones' Best New Horror (Vol. 31), which reprints my story "Mercy Brown."
