"You'd think that I would have known by now."

A sunny, warm day. Currently it's 86˚F, with the heat index at 88˚F.

Today was not nearly as productive as yesterday, but I sort of expected that. We did the last little bit with the Vile Affections galleys, and then I sent everything away to Subterranean Press (via email, because the future is weird and impersonal). It is now out of my hands. Huzzah. All that's really left for me to do is work with Vince Locke on the remaining illustrations. And pick an author's photo. Preferably something from at least a decade ago.

Otherwise, I read, including "Combining phylogenomic and supermatrix approaches, and a time-calibrated phylogeny for squamate reptiles (lizards and snakes) based on 52 genes and 4,162 species" from Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution. I love paleontology as much as I have ever loved anything, but I sorta like to think if I were a kid just entering college in this day and age I'd be wooed away from the fossils by molecular systematics.

I left the house for the first time since the afternoon of the June 16th. I found an errant golf ball in the grass. Oh, and I did a little laundry.
