Sunny, mostly, today. We made it to 74˚F. It's now 60˚F.
Today, I wrote 1,164 words on "The Great Bloody and Bruised Veil of the World" and found The End. It's a good story. I like it. And today was the first time I'd finished a piece of fiction since March 6th, so you know that felt good. Tomorrow I will proof it, make the corrections, and put together Sirenia Digest #170. Then I'll only be one issue behind. Also, I had a good talk with my lit agent today, who's waiting out the pandemic on an island in Maine, having managed to escape Manhattan just in time. And there was email with Jonathan Strahan regarding The Tindalos Asset.
And I finished re-reading Jeff VanderMeer's superbly weird and beautiful Annihilation. Tomorrow, I'm begin Authority. Reading Annihilation again made me feel more charitably towards Alex Garland's film adapatation (2018). Garland's film is pretty much a strange sort of version of H.P. Lovecraft's The Colour Out of Space, and, as such, has a lot less in common with Jeff's novel than with Lovecraft's short story. But as long as you don't think of it as an adaptation of Annihilation, it's actually very effective.
I am suddenly really fucking tired. I miss the world.
A ton more Second Life tonight, Tomorrow night I actually get to start RPing again, having managed to make my avatar fit for the relevant sim.
I had one and a half baloney sandwiches for dinner, with warm Gatorade.
