Howard Hughes and the Temple of Dumb

Apr 18, 2020 23:40

Thunderstorms last night, then mostly sunny today, but cooler. And now we have a wave of storms barrelling at us to match the tempest of last weekend. There's a flash flood watch through Sunday night. Currently it's 53˚F.

I have suffered a monstrously inactive month. Or perhaps I should save I have visited it upon myself. I have allowed the weight of the Covid-19 crisis, my anxiety and dread, how much I miss McWane, and just a host of other shit to let me Make Excuses. And so I am more than a month behind on work. But that's gonna end tomorrow. I need to get two issues of Sirenia Digest out in the next two weeks, and I will do it. No more fucking off, no more excuses, no more using the world's troubles to justify my own laziness. And I also have to have to be done with the copyedited ms. (CEM) of The Tindalos Asset in time to get it back to NYC by May 1st (or very near to that date). So...that is my next two weeks.

Bad dreams the last few weeks, and I suppose that isn't surprising. I've just been largely free of them for some years now. But here I am returned to the old days of dreamsickness.

And as for that asshole Stephen Moore comparing the anti-lockdown yahoos to Rosa Parks (“I call these people the modern-day Rosa Parks - they are protesting against injustice and a loss of liberties.”)? I will repost here what I said earlier tonight on Facebook and Twitter - The very definition of "false equivalence": Some dude brandishing an AK-47 and an unarmed woman refusing to give up her seat on a bus.

As of tonight, the ADPH has confirmed 4,723 cases of Covid-19 in Alabama, with 673 in Jefferson County and 257 in Shelby.

TTFN,
Aunt Beast
