Overcast and chilly this morning. Again. Currently, it's only 54˚F. We've slipped back into March, with no real relief in sight. But at least it's green outside.

Yesterday was every sort of frustrating. I went back over sections of The Tindalos Asset with Spooky, and we talked plot, and I did some editing to what I wrote the day before. But not ( Read more... )

Actually, I don't have mine yet. And I bought it as soon as the link was live. Jerad is slow, meticulous and wonderful. Some people who have their copies received them from Subterranean Press--they are much quicker to ship--and equally as good.

But their books are very different than Centipede Press. Both types good in different ways.

Suntup Press is a new press that is looking like it is going to be putting out fewer books but extremely well done books. I've ordered two books from them.

So, this may explain why you haven't received Houses Under The Sea yet. One point I would like to make is, as the author, you should have received yours first. But life is quirky.

Also, I have to brag a little on something. I was voted Best Writer of the Year by Spare Change News. That felt good. It's nice to be recognized for your work, eh.

I just wanted to mention that I ordered it right away. I read the review of Black Helicopters and wasn't impressed. I only have the hard copy of Black Helicopters and find it enjoyable. I don't know what you think of that.

Um, okay. So I was curious. And so I clicked. And then I skimmed. Or skipped to the end. Maybe a little of both, although my eyes rolled back in my head when I think I saw something about other people's tweets. I may have thought about comparing the statement There is ample room in this book to misunderstand. to the age-old adage Physician, heal thyself., but I would not want to seem confrontational and counterproductive.

It's weird how some commentators have gotten so locked into presuming a political agenda in fiction that it seems they can only presume a writer is either on message (or maybe I should say "on meme") or unenlightened. I just read an interesting review in The New Yorker about Isle of Dogs ("What Isle of Dogs Gets Right About Japan)in which a Japanese writer talks about how surprisingly authentically Japanese much of the movie is after she heard reviews that accused it of misrepresenting Japan in hackneyed ways. It's really strange but this seems sort of prefab critical lens seems to be all over the place.
