Cold and clear this morning. Currently, it's 43˚F, with the windchill at 39˚F.
Yesterday, I finished (finally) with the galleys for the Tor.com edition of Black Helicopters and also with the galleys for the PS Publishing edition of The Ammonite Violin & Others. I dealt with the line edits to "Fairy Tale of Wood Street" and sent a new ms. to Jonathan Strahan. So, all of that editing work is out of the way, and, in theory, I am now at liberty to go back to work on The Tindalos Asset. My deadline is January 1, 2018.
I'm reading Cormac MCarthy's The Orchard Keeper (1965), his first novel. Yesterday, I read "A new stem odontocete from the late Oligocene Pysht Formation in Washington State, U.S.A." in JVP and "Synchrotron scanning reveals amphibious ecomorphology in a new clade of bird-like dinosaurs," the type description of a new maniraptoran theropod, Halszkaraptor. We started watching a new Netflix series, Godless, and it's good, and the cast is very interesting, and we don't get many good westerns these days. but I keep wishing that it would really loosen up. It feels very much like it's holding itself back, cultivating an odd sort of tameness. Spooky made chicken stew for dinner. I had RP late and didn't get to bed until after 4 a.m.
I did not leave the House yesterday. I have fewer and fewer reasons to even think of going Outside.
