Sunny and 72˚F, here at the beginning of green autumn, that peculiar New England season.
I spent over an hour yesterday looking for the name of the protagonist of The Tindalos Asset. Writing down first and last names, pairing them, trying new combinations. Finally, I hit upon Ellison Nicodemo, and it stuck. Yes, it's a nod to Harlan and also to Neko Case and pobably Christa Päffgen, too. Only, they aren't conscious nods. I only saw them afterwards. After I had the name, I spent the rest of the afternoon researching Los Angeles' Koreatown, which is where the opening scene occurs. I haven't visited Koreatown since 1998, and my memories needed a refresher course. Never mind that places change a lot in nineteen years. Today, hopefully, those distractions are out of the way, and I can focus on the prose.
Oh, and I have kitten photos. Yesterday, Lydia turned nine weeks old.
