Overcast and cold this morning. Currently, it's only 44˚F here in Providence, with the windchill at 41˚F. And I eye the warm South, and how can I not? I've been here for almost nine years, and I've simply had more of this than I can stand.
I've been a sloppy blogger since coming home, which is not unreasonable, I suppose. All things considered. But I haven't mentioned almost choking to death on a live ant or accidentally putting antifungal cream on my toothbrush, and those are the things of which memories are made.
Last night, I finally got Sirenia Digest No. 135 out to subscribers. I hope people are enjoying "In the Flat Plain." There's not much else to be said for yesterday. I'm trying to get back to work after the chaos of the trip, all the chaos and sorrow and anxiety that coincided with or was caused by the trip. It wasn't supposed to be like that. But the best of intentions are essentially worthless, and we all know that, when we allow ourselves to be honest. There was a trip to the post office yesterday. Providence is rapidly turning green, but, sadly, here there's no real correlation between green leaves and warmer weather. But I was still glad to see three dogwood trees in full bloom over on the corner of Preston and Governor streets. That was good.
Night before last we finally saw John Lee Hancock's The Founder (2016), and I was very pleased with it. Last night we began a rewatch of Deadwood, something we've not done since 2008. And yesterday I read "Osteology and relationships of Colymbosaurus Seeley, 1874, based on new material of C. svalbardensis from the Slottsmøya Member, Agardhfjellet Formation of central Spitsbergen" in the new Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology. And I saw the second trailer for Blade Runner 2049, and it is beautiful.
And that's all I have for now.
Later Taters,
