"And all the little bones that he hid in his vent."

You can talk about the Vernal Equinox and say this is the first day of spring, and maybe it is - somewhere that isn't Providence. Our temperatures are a little warmer today, currently 45˚F, with the windchill at 37˚F. Not a sprig or green or a flower in sight. And brutal cold returning next week, with lows in the teens.

A reminder that tonight I'll be at Porter Square Books in Cambridge (Boston), reading from and signing Agents of Dreamland, beginning at 7 p.m. EDT. If the "Fungus Among Us" tour were still really a tour, this would be Stop #3. The event will be hosted by author Max Gladstone. Yes, I'll sign any and as many books as you bring.

Last night, I got the news that Bernie Wrightson has died. When I have more time, I intend to do a little tribute to him here. This is what I posted last night to Facebook: I just heard that Bernie Wrightson has died. I grew up on his work in the 70s, on House of Mystery, Eerie, Creepy, and Vamiprella. Then David J. Schow and Christa Faust introduced us in the 90s, and we talked a lot about working together, but it never happened, and at some point we lost touch with one another. He used to call and talk comics and monster movies. My second arc for The Dreaming was pretty much a sequel to his run on Swamp Thing. Wow. Fuck. I didn't even know he'd been sick. I'm just...I'm weary of losing heroes. I almost didn't cry last night. I dislike crying. But then Dave said something sweet to me, and Mike Mignola told me a story about Bernie kissing him on the mouth, and that did it.

Yesterday, I finally found my way into "But I Will Do Thee Mischief in the Woods." I did 1,267 words, and I begin to see that it won't be a vignette, but a full on short story. A sort of a ghost story. Anyway, I can't work on it today, and I'll lose Thursday, too, which is frustrating. Spooky likes what I've written thus far.

Okay, that's all for now. Spooky and I need to make a stop by Paper Nautilus Books here in Providence, before we had to Boston. Hope to see you there.

Resistance, Peace, and Compassion,
Aunt Beast
