Very nice.
In Rope, I do not know if Hitchcock intended us to see Brandon Shaw (John Dall) and and Phillip Morgan (Farley Granger) as a gay couple, but I find it impossible to watch the film any other way, and I think it very likely it was intentional on the director's part.
I remember reading somewhere this was intended, though I can't remember where. I know the lesbian couple in Suspicion was quite intentional. I feel pretty sure one of the women was a sort of avatar for Hitchcock himself, much as Jimmy Stewart is in Rope. In both cases, it addresses the idea of art about murder inspiring actual murder. I find myself wondering now if Rope was Hitchcock further developing thoughts he started having with Suspicion.
And North by Northwest is just one of those perfect films,
Yeah. I get excited just thinking of the opening, rumbling notes of Bernard Herrmann's score.

If Shakespeare can put a seacoast in Bohemia . . .
But perhaps someone has enjoyed them, snapshots of my days and nights in Providence, all taken with my iPhone.
