I didn't work yesterday, unless answering email counts. I likely won't write today, though I have a call from my agent coming at 4 p.m. It's an important call. Spooky and I need to go out to the market before then.
I need to finish proofreading Mythos Tales, and I have to think of something for Sirenia Digest #120 (January 2016). I need to do a lot of things.
Last night, someone said they thought the saw me on the cover of The Weird Fiction Review #6, and I said that yes, they did. I am proud to be counted among that number. I will say that, while I think these are all very fine choices (except maybe Gene Simmons), I certainly would have included a few more women. Yes, weird fiction has historically been dominated by men, from the proto-weird to the Lovecraft Circle to the New Lovecraft Circle. But there are notable exclusions, such as Mary Shelley, Angela Carter, Daphne du Maurier, and...okay, I'm not gonna make a list. But they might have tried a little harder. Also, I would have included Robert. W. Chambers.

Last night we watched TV. Big surprise. I swear I'm about to wean myself off the boob tube and start reading again. Anyway, the new episode of Face Off (Paul Rubens!), then the first two eps of the new season of Shameless, and then the first episode of the new SF series, The Expanse (based on the novels by James S. A. Corey). Word is the SyFy Channel canned Defiance in order to devote more resources to The Expanse. I don't know whether that's true or not, but I want to give The Expanse a chance. I liked the first episode. It was a little unfocused, and I felt like too many characters were being tossed at us all a once. But I liked it. Nice worldbuilding. The episode is nicely bookended by the strange and the terrible.
And now I should go. Don't eat the packing peanuts.
