“The mere passage of time makes us all exiles.” ~ Joyce Carol Oates
Dreary today. Overcast. But we've had a very warm autumn. I'm assuming this is, in part, the result of the current El Niño event. We've been running about 15˚F above normal. I'm not complaining. Sooner or later, the hellish cold and snow and bleak Minsk streets will descend, and the cold will refuse to let go until May. Kathryn pointed out last night that this November/December has been warmer than last April. Which is all sorts of wrong (to me, the subjective judgment of a Southerner). Currently, it's 54˚F in Providence.
Two nights of decent sleep in a row. Bright, strange dreams, which have returned to me, post gabepentin.
I received a copy of the first issue (of five) of
Alabaster: The Good, the Bad, and the Bird - you know, I actually cannot remember when that arrived. It was about a week before the book showed up in comic shops, and that happened on the ninth, last Wednesday. So, probably, I got the issue on December 1st or 2nd.
Greg Ruth's covers will never cease to amaze me. Anyway, if you wanted a copy, I hope you've found one. The second issue will be along in January, with the series concluding in April. My notes tell me that I was offered a third mini-series on November 12, 2013, which means the project required almost exactly two years and a month, start to sale of the first issue.
Yesterday, I received my comp copies of the new edition of
A is for Alien, which has been published by PS Publishing's Drugstore Indian Press imprint. It's a very handsome trade paperback, with a new cover by
Richard Kirk. Note that the second edition has been expanded to include four stories not in the original, "The Steam Dancer (1896)," "Tidal Forces," "Galápagos," and "Hydrarguros." Each story is accompanied by a
Vince Locke illustration. DIP will also be releasing new trade paperback editions of The Ammonite Violin & Others, To Charles Fort, With Love, and Tales of Pain and Wonder.
My latest TV obsession is That '70s Show (1998-2006), which I always thought I'd loathe, but which I actually adore. We've just begun the third season.
And I should wrap this up. See you tomorrow, kittens.
TTFN,
Aunt Beast
