"The Fortune Lady came along, she walked beside."

The first entry of a new year. It's clear and cold outside, the sun too far away to help at all. And it occurred to me today that I could choose to continue the blog until April 15th, which is the tenth anniversary of the LJ (though I started at Blogger on November 21, 2001). It's a thought.

I've begun trying to decide on the contents of the second volume of the "best of" collection. Which, by the way, will be out from Subterranean Press in 2015. I have a five-page, single-spaced print-out listing stories from 2005 until the end of 2013. It's not a complete list, but it's close. Yesterday, I struck 49 titles off the list; I put red checkmarks beside 12 titles. None of the 49 will be included; the 12 are still eligible. I said on Facebook yesterday, "By eliminating those stories that will not be in Volume 2 of the "best of" collection, I begin to guess what will be included." I'll be at this for weeks.

No, I'm not happy about the incandescent lightbulb situation.

Yesterday, the Blood Oranges audiobook was released by Audible, read by Amber Benson. Spooky and I listened to Chapter One last night, and it's actually rather delightful.

My thanks to the extraordinarily generous Sara Hiat for Gillian Welch and other wonderful things. Including the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot. I began playing last night, and it's fucking amazing.

It was an unremarkable New Year's Eve. We heard fireworks far off somewhere.
