New Things

Well, ever since I've come back from Korea, I've needed a few things to get my life back in Stateside mode. I've always had my phone number on Skype that worked real well for me when I was in Korea. I used it often to call back home to America or my friends and family would call me. Most people on the base used Yahoo IM to get a hold of others since a lot of people don't have cell phones over there. What's the use in getting a cell in Korea unless you are spending more than a year there? Well, since I'm home, I picked me up a cell phone just in case of emergencies. It's a pay as you go phone that I will only use if my Skype phone is not available. Instead of paying somewhere between $600-$800 a year on cell phone service, I'm paying somewhere around $200-$300 worth of phone service. Saving a lot of money.
Next thing, I needed was a car. I just picked one up yesterday! It's a 2000 Nissan Maxima. It runs real well and may last for 10 or so more years if I take care of it right. The best part about it is that I saved so much money in Korea that I bought the car outright. That was a real good feeling. Not that financing a car is a bad thing, I just wanted to go to someone and say, "I'm buying that car right here, right now. Here is a stack of money!"
So overall, I think that both the cell phone and car can count as an early birthday present to myself. BTW, it's my birthday today. Turning 25. I think my insurance goes down or something. I'm a quarter century old....I feel old and yet I still feel young. It's going to be a great birthday. *lays back and relaxes*
