I hate the govt!
I hate the govt. This is not surprising to anyone, I'm sure. But today I hate them for a very selfish reason. and really of all the horrible things they're guilty of this is VERY VERY low on the list.
However. Did you ever get bonds as b-day gifts as a kid and you were pissed then b/c you didn't get toys? And if you were like me, you thought, well, at least I'll be able to use that someday when I'm an adult to help me buy a house or something?
Well, I got $400 worth of bonds over the course of my childhood and now that I'm purchasing a house, I thought, hey, I'm gonna cash those babies in. I'll have at least $400, if not more because of interest. I didn't think they'd have so much interest, but I thought they'd be at least face value. NO! The govt has so little value that they haven't even matured to their face value yet. So, I don't even have the $400 I was counting on for help with closing costs. Bastards!
And I'm really mad because I'd much rather have had toys.
