You described perfectly how I see things eventually falling apart for Ron and Hermione. The two things they have most in common with each other is their friendship with Harry and the fact they can't stop fighting with each other. Yeah--that sounds like a dream relationship all right. *eye roll* But I also like to think that deep down they both care enough about each other that they would just let go before everything between them was ruined. I like Ron--I just don't think he's a good match for Hermione.

As for Harry, I really don't see how he could be happy in the long-term with a character as shallow and plastic as Ginny Weasley. Sorry to be a hater, but that is how JKR wrote the girl. As an inconsequential background character who looks like Harry's mom, always hovers on the edges of his consciousness as his best friend's little sister, and shares his enthusiasm for Quidditch. Big flippin' deal. All this after-the-fact depth JKR keeps trying to give Ginny-Sue in the many, many, many interviews she keeps giving to the press cannot change what she's already put down on paper. (Pardon my bitterness. All the HBP nonsense has got me a little on edge.)

Anyway, this was really lovely. I can't wait to read more.

Yeah, I like Ron too. I think I've read so many fanfics about Ron being this evil, cheating bastard that I had to write something in response to that. A relationship with Ron and Hermione wouldn't work because they're just inherently wrong for each other but they love each other as friends enough that they wouldn't let that friendship go to shit over this.

Well, I'll be doing my take on Canon!Ginny in the next chapter. She's going to have a lot more depth, I think, but not JKR kind of depth, because we all know that's just a load of BS :P Anyway, I'm so glad you liked it :) Thanks for commenting!
