1. What made you decide on your major in college? Are you glad?
Hmmmm, this is a long story but I'll give the abridged version here. Growing up, I was always good at math (Malcolm Gladwell has a good explanation in Outliers). I had an uncle who did electrical engineering, and so I thought I'd follow that path since Asian boys are encouraged into the medical, engineering, or computing fields. But during my senior year I found that I wasn't happy doing engineering even though I was good at it.
Fast forward through a couple years of depression, I decided to go back to school and find my passion. I actually prayed about it, and I felt a calling to be a history teacher. And, in fact, I'm much happier on this new path even though I don't exactly know where it leads.
2. If you could go to a music festival with any four bands playing, living or dead, together or not, what bands would you choose to see?
Hmmmm, my choices would be Electric Light Orchestra, The Who, Fleetwood Mac, and Foreigner. I must admit that I'm not a music connoisseur but I often feel like I'm attuned to those bands when I listen to their songs.
3. What person has most influenced you, and how?
Without a doubt it'd be my sister, who's four years my elder and my only sibling. Obviously, I owe a lot to my parents but they were often working and in the summer my sister took care of me. We played tons of games and I often credit her for developing my sarcasm and wit because I got to practice it a lot as the annoying younger brother.
