I'm feeling much better today than yesterday, thank god. I had a few drinks on Sunday night; not even that many, but Monday was just a horrible experience. I felt pretty poor when I got up, and then experienced one of those slow-burn hangovers that just creep up on you over the course of the day. By about 4pm I was vowing never to drink again. No idea why this hangover was so bad, it was out of all proportion to what I'd drunk.
Ah well. I forced myself to go for a run around the nature reserve last night, which actually did me the power of good, ate a healthy supper and was in bed about 10.30. Slept to the max.
Today is my one year anniversary of starting work at this firm. Amazing really, I'm now 50% of the way through my training contract. I recently realised that other than Xmas/NY 08/09 and a couple of days for that cooking course in March, I've had no holiday since I started. Meaning I have something daft like 18 days left to take by the end of the year. In a rush of enthusiasm we've booked a week in Somerset at the end of this month, and a week in Norfolk at the start of December. Hopefully I'm going to carry over most of the rest to use in addition to my paternity.
Speaking of things baby, Ali took a lovely
picture of Jess and I in the nature reserve when we walked around it on Saturday. We're also starting to sort the house ready for the new arrival in January; Jess is going to move into our room, we're moving into the back room, and the new baby will go into what is currently Jess's room as it's small, dark and easily heated. Whilst going through some drawers, Ali found the premature sleepsuit that Jess wore when he was born - it's quite unbelievably tiny. Hard to believe that it could ever have been too big for him.
