Still maintaining my contemplative silence. I really don't think I'm going to have my voice back by Monday! It's now been one week since I lost it. Amazing.
I have some sick time wrangled for me by my bosses, so I've been home since Thursday. I spent the first day asleep for about 20 hours out of 24! I didn't even leave the house for two days, except to walk the dog. Have been sleeping at all sorts of odd hours. It's incredibly isolating. Joe did a wonderful thing today and got me out of the house for a delicious gluten-free meal at the Risotteria. They are amazing-- gave us free GF breadsticks that were absolutely wonderful. I had a Bard's Tale GF beer and was surprised that it wasn't as crappy a lager as I expected. It was still a lager, but at least a quality one, on the level of Yuengling or Brooklyn Lagers. And I got a GF brownie and chocolate chip cookie to go. Also found out that they sell balls of frozen pizza dough for $6. Pretty happy about that. Also got a couple of cookbooks at the Strand and some cheese and chorizo at Murray's. Had to communicate through a combination of notes, mouthing words and sign language (half real ASL, half made up gestures), but it was fun and Joe was wonderful to do it. When we got home my throat hurt, so I decided to lay down for a few minutes and fell asleep for 4 hours. Guess I'm not quite well yet. I can't believe how much sleep I still need.
