Post in which there is ranting, strange dreams, and promises
So I got a call early on Saturday morning wishing me a Happy New Year from one of my oldest/best friends that I haven't talked too really since I got back from Europe.
For those of you who haven't ben my best friend for years - Halloween has for many years been considered for me as my personal Christmas/New Years'. For me its a favorite holiday to celebrate and lots less stress than the other two on their scheduled calendar days. So I make cookies, do gifts, visit people , and all sorts of other festive things. Except for this year where I haven't really been in the Halloween Spirit. Well it took a call from her to wake me up to the joy and opportunities of the season and to start anew with renewed energy and resolutions.
So today is the first day of this and I intend to work my hardest to be awesome and successful in the upcoming new year! Less Bitching! More optimism! Greater Successes!
Oh, and I think of many years of fandom - I'v had my first really weird DCU related dream.
It was weird and messed up and involved having a tea party with Kory for some reason. What the? I never dream of fictional characters but there we were having a conversation on gender identity in the middle of the afternoon.
Also, got a job? I think its a job - I'm not really sure. My cousin is opening a new restaurant and want's me to manage it. It opens in 2 weeks and needs a crapload of work. Ed thinks its a baaaad idea, which it most likely is but I can't really get out of it so here I am. GG: Restaurant Manager. I spent 3 hours yesterday editing the menu items and prices with the cook and quietly pulling my hair out. This is going to be a toughie. At least the money that we agreed on as a salary is decent and will allow me to actually pay my bills! Being self-employed is great but really, recently things have been depressingly tight. Plus Ed and I had a blow up fight yesterday when he brought up how little I bring into the household financially. Which was kinda depressing and saddening. But then boom - 5 h later I kinda have a job.
Anyhoo list of stuff that needs to happen today business-wise (and yikes its already past 9am)
Check bank accounts
Create monthly client server/social media reports
Check in with ALL clients (yes even the ones I'm kinda hiding from at the moment)
Pick up november marketing materials at printer
Get quotes for linen delivery for restaurant
Get quotes for plastic member cards for member program
Damn it have a glass of wine
Oh! and I'm also doing wrisomifu (Write Something, You Miserable F*).
Which hopefully will bring discipline and make me write crap. Such as this, my longest journal post in forever.
