Today I finally finished the short course on technology and ancient cities.
HUZZAH YO.
Although, due to my damned procrastinating nature there were complications. I decided not to start writing the three essays until a week before the deadline (that's today); unfortunately I didn't actually get around to writing things until *three days* before the deadline. And even then I only got about 40 words done a day...wasn't entirely sure what I was doing :) .
And so last night, whilst desperately cramming things into my essays, oblivious as to whether they were relevant or not, yet still safe in the knowledge that I had until midnight the next day to get things done, I quickly checked the course websites for anything that might be useful. It was here that I learned, scrolling through the comments, that the deadline was not midnight BUT MIDDAY. Why the hell was the deadline changed to midday?! In my other course all the deadlines were midnight. WHO TOLD YOU YOU COULD CHANGE THE RULES.
Needless to say I got a sudden burst of energy in me and completed the first essay. Woot!
I tried to stay up all night to finish the other essays, but around 5 am I was lying on the floor staring at the curtains not getting much done, so I decided to go to bed and get up early and finish things up before 12.
Unfortunately, that didn't go exactly to plan, and I woke up at ten past eleven. So I ran, wrote whatever the hell I could and finished up the second essay. At 11:59. But this was still ok - a tutor mentioned that if an assignment was submitted within a 'grace period' it may still be accepted (whatever that means). So I quickly started the third essay and then as I got a few paragraphs down there was a POWER CUT. A POW-ER CUT. I didn't even think things like that really happened in real life! I mean dear GOD man!
The power eventually came back on at 4-ish. And, being a bit stuck on this essay, I eventually finished it at...8-ish, maybe?
Well, the important thing is that it's done, I suppose. It's not very good, if it gets marked at all I'll probably get a low mark. I wish they could've been more specific about that 'grace period' thing. I really want to pass this course, even though it was a bit dull.
In other course news, my books for my next course in learning ancient greek arrived! I shall be translating it up in da hood, fo shizzle. That should be fun! :)
I will be going to see Sweeney Todd next week too! I'm not really that good with bloody films, but I feel Alan Rickman, Helena Bonham Carter and The Depp-ster are worth the horror :D
I was sad to hear about Heath Ledger :( I really liked his work. There will definitely be a Heath-shaped hole in the film industry. I had been thinking about him a few days before he died because I wanted to see him as The Joker in the new Batman film, so it was a bit of a shock to find out.
Well, I can't think of anything else to write about, but this update is long enough to make up for a disappearance I think. Bye-bye!
