Apparently, I'm a dangerous driver. How do I know? I got a notice in the mail today from the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles which told me so. It let me know that because of the accident in February and the $180 speeding ticket last month, I now have 6 points out of 12 on my license. They cautioned me that I am in severe danger of losing my license, and urged me to not be such a dangerous force on the roadway.
Now, I find this very humorous. I went 29+ years without any ticket of any kind; only getting pulled over for a broken head light in which I was given a warning. I believe I got the warning because I was in my PJ's when I was pulled over, and because the cops thought it was funny that they found handcuffs in my car (because they insisted on searching my car...the Oneonta cops really do have too much time on their hands). I explained they were for my prisoner costume for Halloween, but I don't think they believed me because I was in my PJ's.
I find it ironic that I'm so dangerous. This coming from the girl who was recently run off the road by a woman in a Suburban talking on her cell phone who swerved into my lane even though I was literally right next to her. Even slamming on my breaks and laying on my horn did nothing to wake her up. Hell, I can't even kill spiders! But watch out! I'm dangerous!! The car insurance rates in South Carolina are amoung the highest in the nation. It doesn't surprise me. South Carolina has some of the deadliest roads in the nation as well. Why? Well, I have my suspicions. Perhaps because drinking and driving is a big problem down here. Or maybe it's because they insist on driving below the speed limit, while the "transplants" insist on doing the speed limit or higher. There is not a day that goes by that someone else has been killed on one of the local interstates or roadways. Notice, I never killed anyone. I may have hit an old lady, but it was clearly not my fault, and she agreed with me. But, I'm the one who got the shit end of the deal. Someone else's mistake has contributed to me being a dangerous driver.
So, the next time you see a 2003 lava red Pontiac Vibe with South Carolina plates, you better watch out! I'm too dangerous for you to be on the same roadway as you.
