Just an Update

I got an 84 on my Biology exam.  It wasn't as good as I thought I did, but considering the average grade in the class was around 66%, I'll take it.  I went over the exam after class and I did make a couple of dumb mistakes, but what can you do?

I'll find out about Math 155 tomorrow.  I'm not very optimistic.  When I walked out of the exam on Thursday I knew immediately which ones I got wrong and why, and I knew the correct answers.  I don't know why that happens but it does.

I have my first Chemistry exam next Thursday.  Should be interesting.

On another note, my trip home to Chicago was very fun.  It was great to see the family and spend time with the kids.  They are so funny, and it's just so amusing to watch the two interact.  They are both at that age where they tattle on each other for every little thing.  And, of course their prospective mothers always assume it's the others fault.

Hunter will be staying in Chicago for 3 weeks.  My older sister has been having problems with him.  She's a single parent, with absolutely no help from the sperm donor.  Some of you I'm sure remember the story.  But, he's having anger management issues and there was some thought that he may have been sexually abused at some point.  He's seen a psychiatrist, and she has thankfully ruled that out.  I'm pretty sure the problem is that my sister lacks some pretty important parental skills.  I know I'm not a parent, but there are certain things you just need to do with kids.  For one, don't just sit and yell at or for your child.  Get up off your ass and find them.  Play with them.  Spend time with them, so that when the kid sees other people, he's not so clingy and needy and afraid to be alone.  It's really very sad.  And, it pisses me off to no end.  This poor kid is gonna grow up with some issues that could have been prevented.  Don't get me wrong.  I know she loves him, and I can only imagine how hard it must be to be a single parent.  And I know she works very hard.  But when she gets home from work, she should spend time with him.  He needs a routine.  All kids need a routine.  So, hopefully my Dad & Jacquie can help him out a little, but it's only three weeks and I'm sure any progress made will be quickly diminished once he gets back to Alaska.

The concert was excellent, and I have very little voice left from all the screaming.  Got very drunk, but it's been awhile so I was due.  I am very proud of myself for not smoking!  Well, OK...I had 3 drags from my sisters cigarette, but that's it.  I usually smoke at least a pack when I'm home for the weekend.

Oh, and on a personal note, please visit your local McDonald's restaurant as often as possible for the next month and donate to the Ronald McDonald Children's Charity.  All of the money donated is going immediately to those affected in Hurricane Katrina.  The Ronald McDonald House in New Orleans is completely destroyed, but luckily all of the families and staff were evacuated and brought to Baton Rouge before the storm hit.  And, contrary to the news reports, McDonald's is in fact continuing to pay their employees who worked in the stores in the affected areas, but they are having a very hard time locating many of them.

And, Michael Brown has officially resigned his position at FEMA.  I wonder how much pressure he got to do so...considering his resume has been found to be inflated.
