Dear Yuletide Writer,
Okay, first off, don't panic! Frankly, I'm fairly omnivorous. If you write it, I suspect I'll like it.
Personally, I am not into incest, statutory rape, non-canonical character betrayal* by a fellow hero or adultery. (Poly is not adultery, to my mind, nor is any sort of standing agreement.)
I love adventure, plot, humor, heroism and friendship alone or in any combination you can give me. Crossovers, AUs and fusions are awesome. Also? Aliens.
The fandoms here are not ranked in any kind of order. I'd be equally thrilled to see any of them in my inbox on Yuletide. The things I am asking for are not just rare, they're super-rare. One has never been ficced before, as far as I can tell, and the rest have something like two fics ever. Whatever you write will be hugely appreciated. Just by trying, you are making me very, very happy.
The Fandoms:
Hanna (2011)
I loved Hanna as this amazing dark fairy tale girl-Batman sort of thing. It was AMAZING. Sophie and Hanna's friendship was really sweet too. I like to think that Hanna's life after the movie was just as strange and exciting as her life before it, and hopefully happy. I'd love a story from or glimpse of life for her after the movie, hopefully with Sophie in it.
Temeraire - Naomi Novik
Why do people keep writing fic about humans in this fandom? Clearly the entire point of them is the dragons! That is to say: Dragon fic, yes please. I have a weakness for Temeraire, Perscitia and Kulingile, particularly Temeraire and Kulingile's quasi-parent child relationship. Beleaguered daddy!Temeraire! Basically whatever fic you can think of about any or all of these dragons doing their thing would be awesome, the happier the better.
Le Comte de Monte-Cristo | Count of Monte Cristo - Alexandre Dumas
A friend who shares my interest in this pairing helped me write the prompt. Here's what she had to say:
The Count of Monte Cristo. Eugenie Danglars/Louise D'Armilly. I would love to read about their adventures after they ran away together, with Eugenie disguising herself as a man. Were they successful musicians? Did they undergo a wedding ceremony? Did they settle in one place or travel the world? Inquiring minds want to know!
Les Contes d'Hoffman - Offenbach/Barbier
Les Contes d'Hoffmann aka Tales of Hoffmann is a fantasy opera, presided over by a sardonic genderbending Muse. There is literally a sardonic genderbending Muse as one of the main characters. Hoffmann is under the impression that ze is his male best friend, when in reality ze is his Muse who wants to lure him away from his ridiculous romantic adventures in order to devote himself to hir art. The opera is literally about the Muse pushing Hoffmann/Art and Genderbending Muse = OTP.
Look, here's what I posted when I first saw it on TV, in full, okay? (There are pictures!) MORE OF THAT, PLEASE.
Sincerely,
Grey Bard
*Character betrayal, to my mind, includes murder, attempted murder, rape, stealing your significant other, or in any other way behaving in an evil fashion toward a character or their loved ones. If it didn't happen in canon, I really super don't want to see it.
