Hello, Winter

I live in Louisville, Kentucky. We don't usually get a lot of snow at any one time, so yesterday was quite the adventure. I've been worried about losing power since they predicted the storm last week. Thankfully, I got very lucky so far. I still have heat and lights. YaY!

However, I also have over nine inches of snow and a quarter inch of ice. That might not sound like much compared to totals in the north, but for us, that's a lot. I can't even see my road in front of the house and my car is buried in the white stuff. It's still snowing and we might get another one to three inches by the time it's over this afternoon. The temps are falling into the teens so it's going to stick around for a while.

Luckily, I'm retired, so I don't have to get out, but it's always worrisome. If there was an emergency, I'd have to call for help and it would be difficult to get to me. Fingers crossed, that won't happen. Because of my heart condition and mobility issues from arthritis, I definitely won't be shoveling or digging out myself. I'm hoping some enterprising young person will come along and want to make some cash. I'd gladly pay it to shovel my porch, walk and driveway along with brushing off the car.

Meanwhile, unless that happens, I'm staying put. I think it's going to be a long week. It might be even longer since we've got more snow forecast for this coming Friday. Luckily, I have a well stocked pantry.

I have a feeling it's going to be a long, cold winter.
