Aaron stood offstage as the new commissioner gave her speech, waiting for his cue for his official introduction as the new public relations representative. Thankfully, it had not been long since he'd last made a public appearance at home. He'd effectively taken over since he'd been Cross' Lieutenant, and had assumed duties that were still in the process of being transferred over to the new Serenity leadership. It still didn't do much to prepare him for this. More people, more reporters, and more bias. He frowned and turned to see Seras standing behind him.
"Seargent. I wasn't aware you'd be here." He watched as she gave him that shy smile that reminded him of his daughter, and fought the impulse to smile back.
"Of course I'm here. I thought I'd come show the department's support." At that Aaron finally smiled and nodded.
"Thank you." He could hear the commissioner winding down her speech and nodded. He fidgeted with his tie, readjusted his glasses and checked his jacket. Before Seras realized what she was doing she reached out and helped settle his jacket into place. Her face almost blushed as she looked down at her shoes.
"You'll do fine. Don't worry." Aaron looked uncertain how to respond to her fussing, but right then he heard his name called. The composed look that so commonly was on his face fell into place and he stepped out into the flashing sea of the media.
