Okay, I still have two days left of it after today, but I thought this would be a good time to post since it's been a busy week. On Monday I had an interview for the position of Admissions Advisor at Colorado Technical University Online. I thought it went really well, even if I had to drive all the way out to O'Hare for the interview. That made me feel very....well, I guess like I belonged here. On Tuesday I got the ultimate Chicago commuter experience: I took the Metra from Downers Grove to Union Station, then hightailed it to an office where I had an interview for a sales position at Careerbuilder.com. Being dressed in a black suit with my black pea coat, I definitely blended in. After the interview (which seemed very brief to me..15 minutes or so), I casually walked back to Union Station, walked around there and grabbed some breakfast, then took the Metra back to DG. My feet hurt like hell from walking, and by the time I got back to the house and took my shoes off, I realized that I had SIX blisters on the bottom of my feet! Luckily, four of them were small, and the other two weren't in painful locations, so once I put on my sneakers I was good to go. Tuesday afternoon I got to hang out at Framemakers with Sarah...and I got a call from the Monday interview saying that they would like me to come back for a second interview! YEAH! That night Sarah and I met up with Pam after having dinner with her mom, and we got to see the rough draft of the Travis Quindry Memorial Book (yet untitled). It was a good time, but I was definitely tired by the time I got back home. I ended up going to bed at 1 a.m. after having been up at 6...so yeah, that was a little crazy.
On Wednesday morning Derek and I went apartment hunting. We looked at four places, and finally decided on one that we really liked. I am going to work on filling out the paperwork for it today while he's at work. So we will let all of you know once we know our new address and when we will be moving in so you can all come visit!
Wednesday afternoon we took the Metra to Union Station to catch the Amtrak train to Effingham for Thanksgiving. The Amtrak was packed full...Derek and I didn't even get to sit next to each other because by the time we got on the train (and we were early), all of the seats had at least one person in them. Oh well, we were only one row apart so we could still talk and whatnot. We got to Effingham and went to dinner at Steak N' Shake with Johanna. Then we basically vegged at my house until my parents got home.
Thanksgiving was pretty good. The food was good, and I didn't overstuff myself for once. I'm looking forward to having some leftovers once we get back down there on Sunday. We then took the Amtrak back up to Chicago. That ride went a lot faster than Wednesday's...the train was maybe half full. The only problem is that our Metra didn't leave until 10:30, and we got into the station at 9:15. So we got to kill an hour and then some, which was really boring, but oh well.
Now it's Black Friday. Derek's at work, hopefully making all kinds of money. I am sitting at the kitchen table while Nancy (Derek's mom) puts up Christmas decorations. I am refusing to leave the house until Derek gets home and we go out for dinner because a) I don't have a car, and b) I don't want to deal with traffic and crazy shoppers anyway. Derek's working all day tomorrow, and I will probably be domestic (aka doing laundry and baking) again. So, yeah...I hope everyone had a great holiday...I haven't heard any horror stories yet, so I'm assuming it went well. Later all!
