So, I really don't remember the last time I updated this thing...oh look, the front page says it was 30 weeks ago. Huh. Well over the past half-year and then some, I haven't found much to update about. It looks like the last actual text-entry I made was right after our wedding. Well now it's a little over 8 months since then and suddenly I feel inspired. Maybe it's because our 44th President has just entered office and the numbskull that has reigned over this country for the past 8 years is back in Texas where he belongs. This morning I woke up and turned on the TV just in time to see Aretha Franklin singing 'My Country 'Tis of Thee.' I watched Joe Biden take his oath of office, and then Barack Obama took his. I cried through the entire inaugural speech. Now, I'm not one to get really into politics, but I felt very honored to have been a part of this historic election. I'm feeling very optimistic about the next four years, and I hope our President can accomplish everything he has promised. In the midst of this economic crisis and the personal crises I am currently facing, I remain hopeful that everything will get headed back in the right direction, and soon.
Ahem. *steps off soapbox*
Even if Aretha's hat scared the hell out of me.
So we've moved to Urbana. I was able to transfer to Barnes & Noble in Champaign, where hours were plentiful during the holiday season but have dropped off considerably as of late. Although I think hours are going to pick back up, I have been applying like a crazy person for a second job. I do have an interview at County Market on Thursday, which is hopeful since they're open 24 hours. I can work overnights there and then have open availability for B&N. But anyway. Derek is now working two jobs which I completely appreciate. We're going to have to work hard to dig ourselves out of this trench of debt, but suddenly the thought makes me determined rather than depressed. So much for that degree, eh?
Anywho, right now I'm busy working on details for Sarah's wedding shower and bachelorette party which will be taking place in the next few months. Pam & Emily, if you have any ideas, email me. I'm going to do some brainstorming this weekend and I'll send an email to you girls then. I obviously can't disclose any details here. ;)
Well, until next time...hopefully it won't take 30 weeks for something cool to happen in my life. On a positive note, I can now go through my userpics and delete the anti-Bush ones! Woohoo!
