Holy cow, I just discovered there is a Sherlock Holmes Big Bang. To add to all the stories that I am not yet able to read. How exciting!
I just returned from orchestra where we are playing Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf." I think I want to turn it into a shadow puppet play, I can see in my mind exactly what the Wolf would look like, kind of evil and Stalinist, with a hinged jaw, and then at the end when they can hear the poor oboe-duck quacking mournfully from the belly of the wolf as they lead it off to the zoo, there'd be a kind of reveal, where the wolf's belly would have a sliding panel and inside you could see the sad little duck. I think that would be awesome.
Actually, Peter and the Wolf is the first record I ever owned. On vinyl! My dad got it for me, it had Lorne Greene as the narrator, Dad got me this version because we used to watch Battlestar Galactica - the old version, where Starbuck was a DUDE - together. And Lorne Greene was Adama. I used to play it ALL THE TIME. Ha! Nerdy little kid. Anyway, it's pretty cool to be playing it.
