Title: After the Crater
Part: 2 of ?
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire slayer
Pairing: Wesley/Dawn
Rating: PG for now
Summary: After Chosen where will Dawn go when Buffy is consumed by her grief
Wesley's POV
It became my habit to stop in to the diner for lunch when I knew she was working. I didn’t tell anyone where I was going I just had my personal secretary Paige to book my lunch hours as if I was with a client. I'd walk in and she'd take her lunch break to eat with me. We talked about everything, well almost everything neither of us mentioned the kiss we shared the first night I saw her. This didn't mean that I wasn't thinking about it. Another thing I never mentioned was the fact that Spike was around again. I know something happened in Sunnydale but I don't know what. She talks about him with a mixture of awe and hostility. The hostility is lessening and I'll have to tell her soon but not now not while he's still a ghost. Maybe I'll tell her if he becomes corporeal again. Fred is trying to rematerialize him but I don't know how long it's going to take.
Dawn's POV
I've seen him 3 times this week. He looks tired and I can tell something's bothering him but he won’t tell me what it is. I don't know weather to hope it's the kiss causing him the anxiety or that it isn't. I hope he's thinking about it even though he hasn't mentioned it to me since. When he comes in we talk about everything he tells me about the people he works with and how he wonders if they did the right thing saying yes to Wolfram and Hart's offer. I'm impressed with the resources he talks about but I'm starting to wonder too if they really are changing things. I remember when the world was black and white Demons bad humans good. Well I don't actually remember it but I know that Buffy thought that way. Now it seems that everything we did in Sunnydale had no effect here. The hellmouth is closed but the Big Bads are still all around us.
He stops in to see me that Friday night near the end of my shift. I wonder if he's going to walk me home again. When my shift ends I walk to the door and sure enough he's right there behind me. When we reach my building I turn to him "Did you want to come up for that cup of tea you never got?"
"That's a marvelous idea." he says as he follows me up the stairs.
When we get to the door I reach into my purse for my keys but they're no where to be found. I panic. "Wes I can't find my keys."
"Are you sure you don't have them in your pocket."
"No they're not there. I must have left them at work. OH this sucks now what am I supposed to do."
He pulls out his cell phone. "Hello this is Wesley Wyndam Pryce from ancient prophecies. I need you to send a locksmith to this address. Thanks I'll hold while you get a fix on my location." Covering the phone he turns to me "This shouldn't take more than a minute." -- "You've got it great I'll expect him in 10 minutes."
"All set." he beams
"Well that's handy. Is that all you big evil law firm can do?"
"No but that's one of the more useful services." he said as we stood in the hall with the moonlight filtering through the curtains.
The locksmith showed up moments later with his electric lock-pick, by the time we got inside and Wesley set the man away I already had the water boiling for our tea.
I went to change out of my uniform hoping for a replay of the last time Wes was in my house but it was an uneventful trip. When I came back out in my pj's Wes was pouring the tea. We enjoyed our tea in relative silence.
When we finished Wes got up and put his coat on. As I was seeing him out he turned to say goodbye and I couldn't help myself. I went up on my tiptoes and pressed my lips to his, barely a kiss just a touch of lips. I pulled away this time and I think he'll be the one who has trouble sleeping tonight.
