I honestly don't get it. Why are there so many people surprised at Rumsfeld's resignation? It all makes sence to me. The timing is right for this to happen. Rumsfeld is the sacrifice folks and the timing is perfect for it. A last ditch effort to save face, fake interest in bipartisanship, and punishment for failure within the Administration. At least that's probably what the Administration is thinking.
Think about it. There are only two people other than Bush that represent all that has failed with his Administration- Rumsfeld and Cheney, and Cheney ain't going nowhere. So it all falls on Rumsfeld. He gets to pay for the Democrats taking the majority, the failure in Iraq, their fellow Republicans turning their backs on them, and a Nation yelling out that it doesn't agree with Bush or his Administration's course of actions.
And everyone thinks that Rumsfeld resigning means that things will change? You have got to be kidding me. Gates isn't going to be much different in the overall viewpoints of the Administration. His methods may be different than Rumsfeld's but the results will probably be the same. maybe even worse.
It's not over folks. Not by a long shot. There's still two more years and then a big question mark after that. In the meantime I foresee a lot of political gridlock and a lot of bickering which will lead us to a great big pile of nothing.
