I Are Is In Portland
As you will have surmised from the recently posted itinerary, I am now in Portland. At this particular moment, I am sitting in my hotel room after the first day of RailsConf sessions, posting to lj. If you need further information of similar value - perhaps even an unrelenting rss feed of it streamed directly to your cell phone! - you can friend me on twitter. We can broadcast messages back and forth that say "I'm staring at twitter, checking what my friends are doing."
So, after coming to Portland for years and always hearing how great Montage is, I finally went there last night with my coworker Chris after our flight got in (it's apparently right around the corner from the hotel). The atmosphere was lively and greatly fun in a funky northwestern kind of way, but I was less blown away by the food than I had been led to expect. I think I may have just ordered the wrong thing, though - the girl sitting next to us got the "Old Mac" maceroni and cheese, and it looked delicious. Chris and I were also witness to the Avenging Spirit of Waitressing, who tore around the room leaving a trail of cleared tables and filled glasses in her wake. I was surprised to notice that she was actually not wearing big stompy combat boots.
