And now, lots of some thoughts on Law and Order: Criminal Intent.

In my defense, it's Sunday. (Also, meet my new iTouch! It's AWESOME.)

(aj, this is somehow all your fault, FYI.)

For real, the first five seasons (continuity-wise) were damn near perfect, and even the three following seasons managed to CONTINUE THE CONTINUITY (all the while, somehow acquiring a cast of detoxing rotating SVU writers that think John Glover's antics were EDGY and the BEST THING EVER) of the emotional stuff!

I just! I don't even know. And I completely agree with you that while Sad Sack Bobby is kind of getting old... it makes a boatload of sense considering his last few years. Meanwhile, Alex has kept her awesome and is still, obviously, having issues with her kidnapping. Which. How many fucking times has Olivia been kidnapped/menaced/stabbed? I don't think even she can remember. It's almost like getting a smoothie on your birthday at this point. Memorable only because the flavors change. Kinda.

Also, I need to reiterate how much I miss Deakins and how I find it a MASTERFUL STROKE that they totally used his leaving and Ross' entrance as a way to smartly burn Bobby down? And friggin' crack the partnership that seemed so damn solid? I kind of want to take a holiday in L.A. or New York and go hit writers with those scripts. It'd be like whack-a-mole, only with the likelyhood that I'd get arrested.

I think SVU could pull it around if they were given a full detox for their writers, a six-episode season, and the directive that THEY HAD TO FIX IT because that's all the episodes there were getting. Also, a good copy-editor. I think cancellation would do great things for the show.

ETA: Annnnnnd, I'd totally forgotten how much meta I wrote for season 6. Just. YIKES.

Sad Sack Bobby is kind of understandable, but at the same time, I'm...done with it, really. And I think they are, too, thank goodness.

Season seven is basically amazing and insane and FULL OF ANGST and is actually best watched, like, IN ORDER, which is so nuts for this franchise. And season eight they've been waffling around and having production issues, mostly, but it's not SVU-level terrible by any stretch.

they totally used his leaving and Ross' entrance as a way to smartly burn Bobby down?

Which ties in with the B set of detectives. Goren was Deakins' wunderkind or whatever, but Ross' favorite is Wheeler.

I think cancellation would do great things for the show.

AHAHAHAHA, you should pitch that idea to them. It'd do wonders.
