Spring 2009 Schedule

Jan 29, 2009 14:58

I'm posting this a bit late, but I do have an excuse--I didn't get my schedule finalized until 2 days ago. I'm happy with it though--this will be a good semester to end with, even if the work load will murder me.

5 credits. Yep. Including a seminar, two coding classes, and a senior project. With this in mind, I'm not registering for Wind Ensemble this semester. That way I can duck out of it if I'm about to die, and I'm pretty sure I didn't actually get my deserved half-credit for it last year anyway, and it's not really that big a deal. Also, if things look like they'll be bad I can always drop Opera. (At the very least I'm pretty sure I'll NRO it.)

I am a wee bit disappointed that I couldn't take MUSI-247, the second third of the music history courses, the first of which I took last semester. That would have been music from Baroque through the Classical, up to the mid-19th century--the part that I was most interested in. On the other hand, tinydundie42 tells me that it requires a lot more theory knowledge that I don't have (having never taken Fundamentals, Harmony or Counterpoint), so maybe it's a blessing in reverse. At any rate, I have the textbook for it from the first class, so I can always read up on it on my own.

I had my first meeting for my senior project today, and I'm glad to say that it's going pretty well. I'm a quarter of the way into the first book of manga that I'm translating, and if I can do a quarter of the book a week, I'll definitely be able to do at least two books this semester, maybe three. I am pleased, since that could potentially employ me.

Thus, despite imminent graduation, I know I will at least be happy (albeit stressed as hell) this semester.
