Few, was con fun, or what? Yeah it's a little late to inform the world about a con that's been over for about three day now.
But I'm crazy like that! So for starters on Friday all we did, (us in the Musical) was set up for six hours, no really it was the biggest thrill of my life. I mean learning two hours before the show that our mics are giving too much feed back and are going to need to be fix. What a thrill running around like chickens with our heads cut off. I nearly didn't get my wig on, on time! The Musical itself went well, we had one major goof that freaked me and our sound people out. That was when our Phantom skipped 12 pages of dialog. Luckily our director jumped in and said "Go back you skipped half the show." and we laughed, then the audience laughed and we recovered. Now at least we've got a good blooper real. Oh yay more editing for me!
Also I kept getting hit on, so I played dumb and asked 'em if they wanted to join the Quirk fanclub it was way fun. Lots of photo were taken.
Also the IFWA stories were awesome! Only one I really found hard to listen to and it was short. Mom's as per usually was another pun, but oh. That was such a sad story, and
queenzulu genius as always! Excellent quality this year! This year's theme was "Nothing good can come of this.
Saturday on the other hand was a lot harder, we had a smaller stage and no rehearsal time to test it out. But this time no skipped lines! And was a lot more cat calls to us girls in tiny miniskirts. Then later at the judging for the costume contest we sadly didn't win, but much fun was had so that's what counts.
Later at the slave auction the bidding was pretty skimpy, though
queenzulu was pretty awesome with her increasing bids at increments of 1$. Best running gag ever, she even got a slave for, like, 17$ which is a pretty freaking awesome deal. Though I suspect that charity will be going with out food for a while. I think this year we only made, like 750$. Where are those gold-string-bikini!Layas when you need 'em, eh? They for for like 500$ a piece.
Also this year everyone was pretty keen on me getting auctioned off. Me and my tiny miniskirt... I would have, but the media from our musical really drained me. I left early for that reason. We'll see what we can do next year. I think the two big themes I heard were Vampires or Superheros. Both of which I could were a tiny miniskirt in and would have any media. (Yeah right!)So we can hope, right?
But Sunday was pretty awesome, I was tired but it was still awesome. I sat through a lot of interesting panels with. From stuff about Fandom to politics. Sadly though I got there late and missed a friend's panel it was about the fraud of 'Global Warming.' For the last little while I've been speculating that maybe he's been chased by an angry mob down Macleod trail. I sure hope not though, he's one of the best filkers I know. If he's gone the world has lost another genius.
The con was a really smash everyone must now go to
drakkenfyre's page and tell her how awesome she is. She has worked her tail off and it showed! Kudos to you my friend!
Looking back I'm glad it's over and I can't to get ready for next year! I got a dude's email and he is so much fun to talk to. I also won a book of Canadian Sci-fi and I can't wait to read it. And finally I've finally now had a chance to draw with my tablet, and I know I suck, but hey it was fun.
here's what I've drawn:
