Yesterday was a strange day. In the morning I cleaned up a bit of the aftermath of the previous day's Greyhawk game. The afternoon was taken up by a barbecue my brother held for my mom (she's moving to the heathen territory of Orange County). In the evening, Julie and I decided to stay in and watch Dogma instead of going out to see Watchmen (a nearly 3-hour movie, which I still want to see, but it was already late).
After picking up some tacos and returning home, a strange thing happened: my car wouldn't shut off. Oh sure, I've had irritable cars that won't start, but this time the key wouldn't turn to the off position. Frustrating! Saturn's roadside assistance was less than helpful (although, admittedly, I wasn't on the road). Eventually the fuses were located and the ignition fuse pulled. The car finally died. Julie's brother gave her a lift home.
Today I plugged the fuse back in, started the car, and took it down to the Saturn dealership. While I was there, I figured it'd be a good time to get the oil leak fixed (again). Fixing the ignition is gonna run me almost 500 clams. The oil leak requires that the engine be removed, rebuilt, and a charge of around 1,500 bucks. Well, that's a hefty chunk of change, so I asked for a reduction of the price, given the car's history. I didn't get it. Instead, they found that the problem could be repaired without removing the engine and without charging me a dime. Woot! The car will have to sit in the shop overnight, but now I just need to pay for the ignition problem. I'd rather not have to pay that, but it doesn't break my budget and it would be nice to be able to shut down my car from time to time.
Sooo... yeah. Kind of a piss-off, but things seem to be looking up.
