We made it to the Cincinnati Zoo on Saturday. It was a mostly overcast, but unseasonably warm day. And the forecast rain held off until long after we left. It had been five years, almost to the day, since our last trip there. It's a really nice zoo. As usual, we didn't quite get to everything, even with the extended hours for their holiday lights. It got quite crowded as the evening set in, so we left a few hours before closing, so avoided the traffic nightmare that would have been. We did get to see all of the stuff we did want to: the hippo bloat, Rico the porcupine, the new elephant habitat. There are still several areas under construction, and even with the warm (for late December) weather quite a few animals were off exhibit. So, there's plenty to look forward to for future visits, which might be in May or July of the coming year.
That night, Wiccy wanted to switch up the sleeping arrangements. Her parents apparently got rid of their fold out sofa. So, one of us had an inflatable mattress and the other took the couch. I was on the couch Friday night, and Wiccy had the mattress (which deflated throughout the night). I got the mattress Saturday night, and it deflated on me as well. She wanted to go back last night, so I was back on the couch. She ended up switching to the recliner at some point in the night. All told, neither of us slept all that well for the weekend. I did have more strange dreams last night, must have been the couch.
I don't remember much of them at this point. I know the first one was some sort of slasher-flick type of dream. I know there was some sort of twist to it, I just can't recall what it was. The second dream was NationStates related. Something about Dirk Manning, a comic creator, and some people from work wanted to nuke each other in the game, which was working despite not being N-Day. I was trying to sneak some time on the computer at work to launch nukes at Dirk but kept getting blocked, I think. Again, it's mostly gone nearly twelve hours since we woke up.
Tomorrow is New Year's Eve. Our current plan is to go up to Casa McEinhorn for a game night, which is what we've done for most NYEs for quite a few years. Wiccy says she isn't feeling well, and has already gone to bed, so we'll see if that carries on to tomorrow and if it affects our plans. I have New Year's Day off, but then it will be back to work on Thursday for the first time in 12 days. It does not feel like I've been off for almost two weeks.
