So, after all the football had been watched and while Wiccy was still at work (which was for quite a while, especially for a holiday), I did get around to watching this year's Doctor Who Christmas episode.
And I really enjoyed it. I thought it was quite fun. I liked all of the supporting characters, and I have really liked Ncuti Gatwa from his first appearance. I'm looking forward to the second series starting next year.
But the reason that I am here writing about this is because of something that stumbled upon me elsewhere. Some random page on the book of faces posted about the episode and how all of the show's fans are united in their hatred of the episode. And about half of the comments on the post were about how much the person disliked the episode, and all of the dumbass reasons for that. I've said it about other franchises on here before, but it works for this one too: No one hates Doctor Who quite as much as Doctor Who fans.
One comment in particular had me scratching my head/chuckling to myself. Someone said something to the effect that the show needs new producers and writers to take the show back to what it was in the "Matt and David days." So, the showrunner for David Tennant's initial run as The Doctor was Russell T. Davies, and Steven Moffat was a frequent writer during that time. For Matt Smith's tenure in the role, the showrunner and frequent writer was the aforementioned Steven Moffat. So, these are the type of writers/producers the commenter thinks should be in charge now. The thing is, the current showrunner is Russell T. Davies, and the episode was written by Steven Moffat. So, I'm not quite sure how much more like themselves they can get for this commenter's wish to come true. Of course, if I were tempted to reply to this anonymous individual (which I am not), I think all I would have to say is, "if you don't like it, go watch the old shows and shut your stupid mouth." But I really don't care enough to argue with people who are wrong on the internet. It's not that I have anything better to do. I just don't care enough to argue with morons.
Off to Cincy tomorrow afternoon!
