ah.
omgguysimissedyousomuchandomgomgomgomgomgomg-
FINALLY. THE GODDAMN INTERNET HAS COME BACK TO ME. THANK THE LORD. I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO-
okay, let's go back to the beginning. if you've seen the news, or even if you haven't, well, you've heard of a hurricane called Ike which happened to destroy hit Texas right? well, considering that i live around Houston...yeah.
it was bad.
so we live next to this man made lake, enjoying our lives. news of a hurricane for the fiftieth time in my life i swear and my mom says it's bs, cause we've lived in Houston for the past eleven years and we've never been hit by one single hurricane. unfortunately, our community disagrees, and soon enough, all of those angry and scared morons steal all of the gas and take all the bottled water and food they can get. jeez, it's NOT THE END OF THE WORLD PEOPLE GO GET A LIFE. so, we luckily already have bottled water, and my mom has the uncanny ability to make delicious food out of nothing. so far, so good.
then it comes.
it's just "the calm before the storm" and nice breeze, and then BAM- storm just enters out of nowhere, and suddenly clear blue skies turn an ugly plum purple/brown and i can't see a damn thing out of my freakin' window. worse, our landlines are dead, our cellphones screwed up with the signal, and THE ELECKTRICITY B DED. *it is here that everyone makes a O NO MY LIFE IS GONE AND SCREWED FOREVER noise* so i'm stuck in the house for more than 48 hours with howling winds, slapping and moaning trees, and pelting rain to accompany me.
not very fun. at all. by the time it's saturday (the hurricane had hit us by end of friday) the water is two feet from leaking into our house. houston, we have a problem. mom freaks out, dad gets serious, and we start moving the furniture upstairs. our extended-indian-family-next-door-ish-neighbours come walk in the rain to help us out. mom prays to god that we don't sink underwater wtf but o well cause i'm actually a bit scared too and then it randomly stops and starts again. the winds die down but the rain is still there, but a little less hard than usual. eventually, it dies down too, and we go outside and see our whole lawn is underwater, and our pool is halfway too. creeeeepy. a very close call i must say.
after that we move everything back down (and man, what a workout that was!) and then we go and clean everything up. OUR DRIVEWAY IS UNDERWATER so we really can't get out now, which kind of sucks cause i wanted to check on how everyone was doing. my dad can't get to work either, and if we're low in supplies we're going to need to get some help, right? luckily, that didn't happen. but anyway, we're stuck at home...for another two days, and i just kind of sleep the whole time. that was nice. :D good thing: no trees fell on our house considering that there weren't any that could fall on us since we don't live in a wooded area, we live on the lake dammit but after deciding that I JUST NEEDED TO SEE THE AFTERMATH, my dad and i biked in waist-high water out of the driveway and out into the neighborhood.
and what a sight it was. trees were scattered everywhere- lampposts had fallen down and i swear, it was that ghost-town-deserted scene from the second to last episode of the fourth season of doctor who and everyone was already cleaning up. some tiles had fallen off from the roofs of houses, others had collaspsing garages, and the sidewalks were LITTERED with trees. leaks were in houses everywhere..and nobody had electricity. Galveston and Downtown were even more of a mess- there was shattered glass and broken and stripped buildings, i heard.
for the next few days though, my desi group and me partied at everyone's house for no absolute reason...that's just us i suppose. :D and on FRIDAY i finally got my power back but our internet was screwed up. we finally got that back today, and i just wanted to give you an update as to why i was out for such a long time! i hope you guys are doing well as i am. i'm really scared about SCHOOL- we had a total awesome WEEK of break. but unfortunately for me, as i'm taking FIVE AP classes, i'm pretty sure my teachers are going to cut me NO slack whatsoever. scratch that- NONE of my teachers are going to cut me slack...ugh....and i still haven't even done my homework and school starts again tomorrow....*groans* better be off to studies now. :D
AND THE EMMYS START TODAY AND I SHALL TRY AND WATCH THEM AND HOPEFULLY CATCH UP WITH MY FAVE TV SHOWS (HOUSE, GOSSIP GIRL AND HEROES)
NOW, ONTO TOPIC #2: BRISINGR.
but that's later. :D i have so much to discuss about it, trust me. hopefully it won't be as long as this entry. :D
