No hot water....gggrrrrr.....
So I've been without hot water for the past 2 days. It's a pain in the ass. I thought I might have it this morning since we bought a new hot water heater yesterday. My dad and I started taking the old water heater out at about 8pm last night. At about 8:30, we realized we had the wrong size copper pipe for the new heater. My dad had already cut the lines with a hacksaw and didn't have a way to seal it (did I mention we had to turn the water off to the house?). There isn't a turn off going to the water heater. That would have come in handy. I was outside talking to my dad on a cell phone. I was at the turn off for the house. He told me to turn it on slowly. I only had a set of vice grips to turn it on. So I have to set the phone down and keep my head close to it so I can hear what my dad is saying. I reach both arms into the bug filled hole to turn the water on. There were bugs EVERYWHERE and I've got my arms in the hole with them.
We finally got the pipes sealed at the hot water heater. Then we took it down the stairs and tossed it in the street (it was gone as of this morning).
I've had two showers without hot water. Let me tell ya, "the boys" didn't like it one bit. I'm jumping around in the shower trying my best to stay warm. If you haven't noticed, I'm not insulated. I was freezing.
Anyhoo, we'll have the right size copper pipe tonight. So tomorrow, I'll get a good HOT shower. Hoowah!!
