A few funny things, one long entry. LONG LONG LOOONG ENTRY

Funny things:

1. http://www.handlebarclub.co.uk/wbmcwinners.shtml . It just... is FUCKING AMAZINGWTF!! I can't go through there without relating at least one of you all to each category/section, so I thought I'd share it. U-S-A! U-S-A! We totally rock the natural beard section, man. Hehe.

2. I just recently picked up a picture we had brought in a while ago for framing. It was an illustrated version of my torah portion, Achare Mot, that we had purchased in the Venetian Ghetto on our trip to Europe. Upon reading it on the painting, there were some things I did not remember from my studies:

For on the four small panels squished down at the bottom of the folksy canvas the hebrew was written and translated:

"No soul of you shall eat bloody/ You shall not come near to any that is near of kin to expose their nakedness/ You shall not lie with any beast to defile yourself/ You shall therefore keep my laws and my judgements not committing any of these abominations."

HOLY SHIT I CERTAINLY DO NOT REMEMBER TRANSLATING THAT! Hahahahahahaaaa I did not know that, wow. No wonder why I'm the well-adjusted Jewish Adult I am now. XP

3. I'm reading "Sleepless Nights", one of the romance novels we saved from our own personal "book burning" ceremony, by "Peggy Webb" c. 1988. I was blown away. "Diarrhea of the mouth" has brought new meaning to me, in the form of the written word.

Quote from back of the Loveswept 275 book blurb:

"Tanner Donovan and Amanda Lassiter had seemed destined to create scenes, ever since the day he'd stopped her wedding to his best friend and nearly carried her off! She'd refused him then, denied she loved him, but eleven years had passed. Now he was back in town, big and brash and so handsome it had to be illegal[...] Tanner insisted he'd stopped loving her, that he intended to bed her one last time to get her out of system, but why did his wild, wanton pursuit of Amanda feel so much like being in love?"

Monday is my first day at Abington Friends. Pretty crazy. I am officially no longer a Harriton High School student. They might not even put me in the graduating class pictures in the yearbook, strangely enough. The thing that really disappointed me though is that I didn't leave a week later. You see, I had originally thought I was leaving on November 9th. As this was the day of the bomb threat, I could've said I was going out with a bang. Damn it! Haha turns out I'm leaving Harriton at the end of Abington's quarter, not Harriton's. Which is actually better, a week less extra homework for me. :)

I'm pretty much taking this weekend away for myself, to get my room and my life together. I also need to get college stuff done. I totally can't wait for my room to be painted and my things put away though, I hate half living out of a suitcase and it would be so nice to have a place here that actually felt like me. I get along with everyone, and I'm getting very close with them, but I just won't feel at home until I have a place I've made all my own, as corny but true as it is. We're hiring someone to finish my room tomorrow while I possibly attend a big college fair. How important are those things?

OH, Julia2-- Judy called an exterminator about the stinkbugs, and he gave us some useful info. Stinkbugs are most common in(southerly?)your sunniest windows. He said they'd dwindle as it got colder, and to spray the window screens with "Clorox Clean-Up Cleaner with Bleach". The name is redunant, but it smells pretty toxic so I think it has to help. Hopefully it'll get rid of them in my room at least. And it will keep me-- and hopefully you in the future?--from dying of combination rubber cement and raid fume poisoning.

And Ash... do you still want Hazel? There's no rush (or pressure) of course... if so though I'll see you over Thanksgiving break at some point(and if not too)? She's freshly fed and has a new heating lamp, as Hannah is aware!:D

Alrighty time for bed.

Or not. One more thing to get out there...

I'm thinking of two major stretch schools, like MAJOR stretch. Judy doesn't care about application fees, and I agree that there's really nothing to lose, though I'm sure they have supplements to write. Reed seemed amazing, and really appeals to me as it was the only institution that straight out emphasized learning for the sake of learning, something that no other college I've found has done. And Cornell just has an incredible art department and the lab of ornithology. I'm not sure it's worth writing whole supplements for though, because if did write them, in order for them to be worth the trouble they'd have to be really good essays, ones that would make up for my crappy grades and that my math SATs are a bit below their standards. Plus if I got in, would they even be right for me? I mean, the whole overworked rep isn't exactly something I'd agreed with in the past. Care to drop some knowledge?

(my current list is UVM, UNH, UMass Amherst, Bard, Bennington, Bates, and Evergreen which hasn't returned my call to explain that I couldn't schedule an interveiw with them because my mom was sick on the 9th. to give you an idea and all. And to make this even longer and torturous for the reader. My god Hanna.)
