OK, SO I FINISHED HARRY POTTER ALREADY.

I finished a few days ago actually... it was nice I guess. Characterization wise, it was an empty shell to me. I think I've grown to find much better things to read. One thing with fantasy books like that though is that the author can really use magic as a way to mold the universe into exactly what they want it to be. To J.K. Rowling, it was a universe that is apparently ruled by love (which is really just a romanticized biological urge, especially with the whole Lily Potter thing. There isn't really anything that magical about an animal dying for its offspring, seriously). I mean, the book had it's clever points, but, to me at least, the entire thing was really just based on the cardboard suburban-family-at-christmas-time-love-defines-our-lives bullcrap. I think the epilogue really confirms this state of mind. I don't know, but she just really seems to idealize the status quo in a way, and I feel like the emotion behind it is truly mediocre. That's just me though.

Alllso... anyone free this Sunday EDIT: Saturday? I was thinking of some form of get-together, perhaps with a certain male friend of mine tagging along... dinner or something? It'll be fun to see what happens. (not to make "love" the center of my book or anything, LOL)
