Well I finally got around to resizing all the photos from texas. Im going to these this public so i can send the link to friends that arent on lj...
I had a good time overall. The weather sucked. It was the best the first night, and The last day I was there. Any other time it was raining and cold. A couple times I walked downtown alone to go to a little place called Twin Sister's cafe. They served vegan and vegetarian food. but both times i went there, they were closed. I met an artist named L.A David. He had a gallery right near twin sisters, so i went in and talked to him for quite awhile, and he described all of his paintings to me, and told me about seeing a UFO in the 80's. He was an awsome dude.
I had 2 or 3 classes at the convention for 3 days. I only really enjoyed 2 of the classes, and they were both with photographers that showed their work, and talked about how they lit the shot. I got so close to crying in the class with a photographer named Joe Mcnally. His photos held so much emotion, he had an amazing story for each photo. heres his site if you want to check it out.
http://www.joemcnally.com/portfolio/ ans the other photohgrapher that i really liked was, paul aresu. he does alot of commercial work, and modeling work. which really inspired me to change how i light my work. when i wasnt in classes i had to walk around the convention looking at equipment and printers with the people i work with. i was so tired of it, and bored. so i usually went back to the hotel to sleep or walked downtown alone. i spent alot of time at starbucks, staying out of the rain.
I spent alot of time on the river walk. Ill post alot of photos of it, it was such a beautiful place. A river ran through the middle of all these really good restaraunts, and shops. and it was clean and finished off. I loved it. The first night i just sat on this bench next to the river, and just took everything in, and wrote in my journal. It was really relaxing.
Once anthony got there on tuesday, he got fucked out of the rental car his dad had paid for, so his cousin picked him up, and then they picked me up at the hotel, we ate at this real mexican restaraunt called Chachos. and then we went to a show at the sanctuary to see a show. we got there late so we only saw first blood. They were pretty good. that night his cousin offered us the option to stay at his place, but i didnt want to impose so soon, so he drove us to anthonys grandmas. she wasnt at the house, because she had been living with anthonys aunt. so we had the house to ourselves. BUT. this house had no heat. at all. I was so scared and unhappy. We hooked these 3 little heaters up, and i fell asleep curled up in front of them on the floor. I slept through the night thankfully. The next day, anthony and i took the bus down to a mall, and it took about 2.5 hours. we ate at the really really good mexican restaraunt. I was so fucking stoked on really good food that was vegan.
We stayed at his cousins for the next 2 nights, where there was heat and hot water. On my last day, his uncle let us borrow his jeep, so anthony took me around his old neighborhood. and he took me to the shops at La Cantara. and that is the nicest mall ive ever been to. they only had high end shops like, bebe, lacoste, abercrombie, the buckle, and other really stupid exspensive shops. but it was awsome. after that we went to a movie with his friend natalie. we saw The pursuit of happyness. such a good movie. to end the night we stopped at sonic, and then went back down to the river walk. it was such a good night. we just talked about things, and walked a long ways.
My flights were quick, i felt sick a little bit. but i just read, and listened to my ipod the whole way.
Once i got into syracuse i had an interview at a studio. and it went really well. he likes my work, and my ideas with making money and marketing. but he doesnt want to hire for a full time position yet, because he doesnt have the workflow for me to be hired full time. but he will eventually. Tim said that hes sure id be able to work full time at the call center him and liam. making over $10 an hour plus comission. And they really want me to move in, so im thinking about telling penny this week, that ill be quiting soon. Im really nervous about telling her im quiting. i think shell be pissed that she paid all that money for me to go to texas, and im just taking all my knowledge somewhere else. oh well. my dad fully supports me quiting that job, and moving out soon. I know he and anne would help me out with the little things, and helping me move my things to liverpool. Im so stoked to move.
I spent a ton of time at Recess this weekend. Ive made so many good friends hanging out there. Im going to put a couple photo pieces together for them to hang. Adam and Jesse have alot that they are changing around, and Adam had asked me to get something together for them to cover a wall. I have some ideas. I love being there, I can just sit and read for hours, and never get bored. I spend to much money on tea there. Usually 4 cups everytime im there. I bought a (stolen)book from my friend Chris the other day, for $7. Its the "Graffiti World" book, its $35 off the shelf. Im glad i have it.
well i need to finish this and post the photos. So check em out.
